About 15 years ago, my husband and I both started reading this book. He finished when I was about 1/3 of the way through. He refused to let me read the rest of it because he said it would open a Pandora’s box of sorts that I wouldn’t come back from. When I pressed him about it further he got a little angry and kind of asked me to promise I wouldn’t read it. He died (of natural NOT self-inflicted causes) shortly after so I never came to understand WTF he was so affected by it to not want me to finish.
I know this is a bizarre request and asking for a lot of speculation but can anyone that has read it relate to his reaction and ya know, speculate, as to why he felt this way?
