My daughter (14) and I are heading out for 10 days of hiking. While we will spend lots of time enjoying peace, we like to synch our airpods and listen to the same book when we need a boost. Our favorite series was The Remnant Chronicles.

We can branch out beyond fantasy. She just doesn't want to listen to anything about “depressing adult issues” (dead white politicians, divorce, infertility, perimenopause, parenting teenagers…all topics on her “no” list).

      A few ideas:

The Monk and Robot series by Becky Chambers. The books are short but they talk about finding yourself and appreciating the world around you. First book is called A Psalm for the Wild Built.

Yumi and The Nightmare Painter, by Brandon Sanderson. A fantasy book with a strong female main character and some cool world building. It’s about 15 hours.

And a non fiction option about surviving in the wilderness: Endurance by Alfred Lansing.
