I'm sure that you've all heard by now and if you haven't now you will on tiktok last year there began a boycott of St. Martin's press for good reasons. Which a lot of people have been participating in but lately I haven't been hearing anything about it and a few people i have been watching videos from on YouTube. Are talking about their books and promoting them. So I've been sitting here wondering is this boycott over?
Also do these YouTubers not know about the boycott so that's why they're still promoting these books? Or do they know about it and just don't care? Because I've never heard them talk about it or even bring it up. On top of that if this boycott is still going on. Is it okay to buy books from this publisher to support the authors as long as you're not talking about it on social media or out they're promoting it? And last but certainly not least feel free to share your thoughts.

“For good reasons” is meaningless to a bunch of internet strangers.
I’m not sure if some people on TikTok saying they wanted to boycott a publisher necessarily means there was ever a real boycott in the first place. As near as I can tell (and this is the first I’ve ever heard of it, despite reading plenty of media about the publishing industry since this started), there was some noise on TikTok in 2023, but that never spread more widely. I can’t imagine that a temporary flare of anger on one social media site resulted in any widespread participation by a book-buying public that usually doesn’t even note who publishes the books they buy.
I’ve never heard of this, and “for good reasons” is not informative on the situation
