    I am really craving a fantasy series to start! I am leaning towards YA but I’d be open to adult. Some series/books I’ve loved: Serpent and Dove/The Scarlet Veil, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Folk of Air, Ninth House, Fable duology, Graceling. Did not enjoy: ACOTAR (too much fairy smut for me personally), Mistborn (I know I know I just couldn’t get into it).

    Grishaverse was good enough, but I wasn’t blown away. That being said I have yet to read Six of Crows. I loved Kingdom of the Wicked but skipped over all the spicy scenes which by the last book was a lot of it. I’m just not a spice fan.

    X-posted in r/yalit. Thanks in advance!

      Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Personally, I’d start with {{Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett}} or {{Mort by Terry Pratchett}}. It’s a huge series so you could definitely sprinkle it throughout your other reads. If you want a reading order, there’s a couple graphics to help: [this one](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1c/10/d9/1c10d9e1c5800ead1dd17223125f9ecb.jpg) and [this one](https://preview.redd.it/e7e47mv4p1ob1.jpeg?width=1584&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a679e04205e65f9973c748f48cfeae972d96f6e).

      For the first graphic, I think of the paths in these very general terms:

      Watch = crime mystery, whodunnit
      Death = coming of age, finding yourself
      Witches = fantasy, fairy tale
      Rincewind = sci-fi

    2. Shannon Hale’s Books of Bayern, beginning with *The Goose Girl*

      If Steampunk Fantasy is allowed, Gail Carriger’s Parasol-verse as well, with *Soulless*, *Prudence*, or *Etiquette & Espionage* all being great starting points.

      I just finished and really liked *Godkiller* by Hannah Kaner, but since it just came out, the sequel is still in the works. Adult, but no smut and a really interesting protagonist.

      The Bone Witch series by Rin Chupeco is finished, that’s a good YA series, that author has some really good stuff.

      The Mirror Visitor series by Christelle Dabos.

      *Furyborn* by Claire Legrand.

      *Little Thieves* by Margaret Owen.
