I’m looking for non-fiction books about more obscure historical people, places, and events. Something that isn’t typically taught in history class. Nothing about history of entire nations/empires or famous kings/presidents/etc. I want the books to be more narrow in scope. Any time period or culture. Thanks!

Never Caught by Erica Armstrong Dunbar
The Little Ice Age by Brian Fagan
Eye of the Beholder by Laura J. Snyder
I really enjoyed Say Nothing. It’s a true crime murder mystery that gets into the troubles in Northern Ireland and the IRA. It’s one of my favorite books, ever.
I also very much enjoyed Nazi Billionaires. Obviously not obscure characters but it does an excellent job mapping out how wealth and economy today is so tied to the industry built by the Nazi’s back then.
Dream of Ding Village is fiction, but its historical fiction. It’s a fascinating look at rural China in the 1980s and how affected they were by HIV/AIDs thanks to blood banks.
I loved Feud, about the Hatfield and McCoys. Super interesting!
