My brother & SIL work with refugees, and they have just been put in touch with a young family from Afghanistan. The family has a small infant, and a 4 year old. The 4 year old loves to be read to, and is starting to pick up English a little bit.
They were only able to come here with 3 books, and I would love to get some more for the little girl, and a few for the baby.
Can anyone give me some good suggestions for a precocious 4 year old learning ESL?

What Do People Do All Day by Richard Scarry would be amazing because the illustrations will keep them busy when no one can help them read, everything is labeled so they can learn the names of everything around them, and it covers some ways people work and interact in society.

These vocabulary picture books are great for little kids and new learners and you can adapt how you use them as they progress.
