Books with a similar vibe/subject matter to movies like Cure (1997), the first season of True Detective, The Exorcist 3, and the recent Longlegs

Looking for something similar to the films listed in the OP. Detective stories with that kind of almost occult vibe. Doesn't have to be overtly supernatural, but the implication that it could be is there.

I have actually read Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs and enjoyed both of those, so those also fit as reference points I guess.
