As the title suggests, I used to be really into books years ago, but I just kind of stopped once I hit high school. Now that I no longer feel pressured to read for school, I'm looking to get back into it.
I really like fantasy (specifically high fantasy and dark fantasy but I'm willing to branch out) and gothic fiction, bonus points if there's really weird worldbuilding. I also really like supernatural creatures, especially vampires, and interesting magic systems.
I do not care about modern, futuristic, dystopian, or post-apocalyptic settings, and I don't really want romance to be the primary focus, especially straight romance.
The last books I remember liking were The Picture of Dorian Gray and Dracula. I also thoroughly enjoy things like Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and D&D, if that helps.

Perdido Station by China Mieville.
Fantasy, Steam punk, Supernatural, World building… all in one.
Any Jack Carr book. Start with the first one though.
Have you read Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice?
