I just read through Mr. Mercedes in a few days and absolutely loved it. It was such a page-turner with really interesting, fleshed-out characters. It was the first real crime novel I've read and would love to read more. I know it's part of a trilogy but I have those books and other King novels on hold on Libby, so I was hoping to find something I could read now. Things I liked about it spoilers ahead!:
- The set-up where you start getting to know characters that I assumed would be with us the whole book but then aren't.
- A really interesting villain who you're aware of pretty much from the start as opposed to discovering their identity toward the end.
- Characters who are introduced that will seemingly be in the story for a brief time only to become a central character (Holly).
- Short-ish chapters so you want to keep going and not put the book down.
Thanks!
