I’m (24F) trying to get into reading more as an adult. My boyfriend is a BIG reader and has tryied sharing his interests in sci-fi books like the Dune series or Neuromancer. I honestly hate the expansive world building and endless explanations with tons of made up words and titles. I feel like I have a hard time keeping interest in stories like that. Especially in book form. I've been putting off trying to start reading as an adult because I don't want my boyfriend's book recommendations (I love him but I just don't love sci-fi like he does.)
I dont know what genres to start trying as a kid I really loved the Coraline book and Edgar Allen Poe's works and I remember liking the Westing Game a lot but was really young reading that. I like horror movies like Scream and Saw and movies like Knives Out and Glass Onion. I'd appreciate any suggestions!
