My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!

House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune might be a good start 🙂

it really depends on what you like. i love horror/splatterpunk and romance/fantasy, so there’s a wide variety of things i’d suggest to a new reader.
edit: if you’re under 18 or have any triggers, i suggest not even looking into what splatterpunk even is.

I feel like it depends on the genre for fiction, do you like Romance, fantasy, action, etc. what movies or TV Shows do you like? I personally love Fantasy and Sci-Fi. So those are the ones I know the most about. Scythe is a Sci-Fi book about a world where they conquered death and they train Scythes to control the population on earth. Where The Land of Stories (this is a kids book but I still love it) is about twins who get a boo and travel to a fairytale world. It just depends on your genre. But I recommend trying something that sounds interesting or read different stuff to figure out what genres you like the best since everyone likes different stuff.

Manga’s are a good starting point. They are short on text and there are so many different genres to peruse that I believe their is a manga out there for everyone. I discovered ‘the promised neverland’ series by Kaiu Shirai this year and whilst it’s labelled a teen fiction it totally captured by 40-ish year imagination.

Carl hiaasen wrote hoot and flush which are children’s books that I loved but he’s also written so many great adult books that have the same feel I’d recommend strip tease or double whammy!
