My son is 19. He has never really liked reading. It was made a chore in school . The only time he's read for pleasure: As a kid he read the Wings of Fire series and he recently enjoyed the four books in the Hunger Games series. He loves cars (if that helps). He's not into romance of really any type. Any suggestions?

How about [Unwind](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/13643974-53b8-40c5-82f9-553b746d3669) by Neal Shusterman?
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Really similar to the Hunger Games is a series called Arc of a Scythe. The first book is just called Scythe.
ETA it’s similar in vibes not content. It’s different enough to be worth a read even if the hunger games was fairly recent.
Cradle series by Will Wight is always my rec for people newer to reading or for people who feel they dont find books super engaging
The Da Vinci code was the book that got me hooked on reading at 17!
Hear ya – got two teens myself. They liked “Perks of Being a Wallflower”, “Life of Pi”, “The Outsiders” “Never let me go”. Getting them to read is HARD.
The Bad Guys series is light, funny and easy to get into!
If he liked Hunger Games, get him Red Rising by Pierce Brown. The first book is basically a more adult Hunger Games with a male narrator and the series only gets better from there.
