My pick is 1913 by Florian Illies, which is basically a collection of anecdotes about what happened in 1913 in the lives of some (at least in the aftermath) known personalities who lived during that time. It's a great book that puts into focus how little each of us can really say what will happen to us and the world in our lifetime, how much we struggle with the moment.
