I am looking for books to add to my summer list that are not 'beach romance reads'. Could be fantasy, or not.
Bonus if it has some humor.
Preferably the story takes place in the summer or has summer-related vibes and activities (such as visiting beaches, camping, etc).
Young adult is also fine! Percy Jackson series often becomes a comfort read for me in the summer.
Just not romance focused.

Mercy Creek by Matt Matthews. Coming of age (adult fiction, not YA) with a little bit of romance but it’s not the primary focus.
Lifelike Creatures by Rebecca Baum is also a summertime coming of age novel (this one with a female protagonist) with no romance at all, but it also doesn’t have have any of the summer-related vibes you mentioned.
