Okay maybe this isn’t the usual r/booksuggestions request, but I can’t find a better sub.
My son is 10yo and plays baseball. It can be a high pressure sport (he pitches) and I’m trying to find ways to help him build resilience, shake off the stress, and be able to cope better with challenges.
What I’d really like is a simplified cognitive behavioral therapy guide made for kids specially dealing with the ordinary pressures of life and especially sports. I’ve seen some books on “mental toughness” for athletes but they all seem kinda cliche, and not based in science. I’ve seen other books about CBT for kids, but they are often focused on depression and behavioral problems. What I’m looking for is a combination of the two – something based in science and psychology, specially for kids and ideally with a focus on sports performance.
Any ideas?
