I F 19 love reading books. However, ive never read a romance book because its just not my genre. Same with movies. I do want to give it a chance.

    Are there any reccomendations?

! I do NOT want ANY smut !
! I really dislike love triangles and I cant stand cheating !

    1. My wife loves seasonal romances. I actually just got her a new Christmas one for our anniversary. If I had to describe them (with knowing absolutely zero about them) it would be something like the Hallmark channel.

I don’t know if [Book Lovers](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58690308-book-lovers) by Emily Henry would be too spicy for you. It’s going to be hard to find something that’s primarily romance with no steamy scenes in it whatsoever.

I haven’t read them, but maybe something like [Heartstopper](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40495957-heartstopper) by Alice Oseman or [To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15749186-to-all-the-boys-i-ve-loved-before) by Jenny Han would be more palatable for you. Since they’re focused on high schoolers, I believe the most intense things get is making out, but again I haven’t read them so I’m not 100% sure.

I’m not really a romance reader either, but I recently enjoyed The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon (there’s no cheating or love triangles, but there is a sex scene—I wouldn’t consider it smut though)

I talk about The Ex Talk and some other romance/other genre books in my most recent youtube video where I recommend a book for every track on Taylor Swift’s album 1989 if you’re interested: [https://youtu.be/lGTgz_ihsNA?si=zTYMWzIOxQ1uWwnf](https://youtu.be/lGTgz_ihsNA?si=zTYMWzIOxQ1uWwnf) 🙂

There’s a sub for romancebooks on here – if you want to check it out also look for the words “innocent” “clean” “closed door” which means that there will be no sex.

If you like Fantasy & Romance: The King’s Captive by K.M.Shea is really good. It’s a bit peculiar because the FMC shifts into a cat and spends most of book 1 in that form. The MMC finds & keeps her as a pet, she’s too scared to shift back. It’s funny and really cute.

For contemporary I think The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary and Act Like It by Lucy Parker are both closed door (not 100% sure though) – the former was even made into a TV show.

Also check out romance.io it’s a website that shows steam-levels for many books as well as trigger warnings. You can also filter for specific steam levels which could be helpful.

    5. The Bodyguard by Katherine Center (modern)

A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin (regency)
