Two of my favorite books are Jane Eyre and Rebecca (which I’ve realized are weirdly similar plots). I’d love a recommendation for a fiction book that is beautifully written and has a world to lose yourself in, with a dark twist or something just generally unexpected at some point. I love that both of those books read as one thing in the first half, and then something completely different in the second. Side note: what do y’all call the protagonist in Rebecca? I’ve named her Susie in my mind.
