Recently I've been trying to make my way into the fantasy genre.
However, nothing I find piques my interest enough in order to actually read it. In a word, it seems "off" compared to the ideal fantasy in my mind.
So I turn to the fantasy I enjoy engaging with, video games such as the Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall.
A world that seems medieval/Renaissance, with chivalry and knightly orders, with maybe a focus on the landscapes and scenes explaining the "journey" of how they get to places, similar to Lord of the Rings.
The atmosphere is very important to me, similar to how other people focus so much on characters or plot, and I would like the atmosphere to feel dream-like, and whimsical. An underlying sense of mysticism or connection inherent in the world.
If it exists then I would like to read it.
