I really want to like romance, but every romance book I've read has been so flat and boring and atp I'm starting to question if I even like romance.
I prefer a book where the romance isn't the main plot, but it's still romance heavy. Don't mind sex in books but don't want it to feel like that's the only connection the lead characters have.
Wracking my brain for romances I liked – I like peeta and katniss but that's not the focus of THG. I loved ATYD but that's a fanfiction.. um.. yeah I can't think of any more
Straight, mlm, wlw, don't care. I just want to know I'm not a weirdo and I can actually enjoy romance 😅

Romance is typical for being flat and boring, you’re not weird for disliking this genre.
It sounds like you like subplots of romance more than romance.. which is common for people who don’t like the romance genre.
I suggest anything by jennifer lynn barnes if you want YA with romance subplots.
The naturals and the inheritance games are both good series and easy reads.
Cortney Milan writes excellent human characters who feel real and have lives. The books are romances but that’s never the only thing in the book. I like the Brothers Sinister series.
Loads of books have romance subplot though, if you don’t want that as focus. For complex fantasy that’s also got romance try Kushiel’s Dart
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. I’d describe it as part coming of age, part murder mystery, part romance.
It’s about a Trans latinx boy who falls in love with a ghost while trying to solve the mystery of who killed his cousin so he can be accepted as a boy in his community. It’s so interesting and I loved so much more than I thought I would.
Swordheart or Paladin’s Grace by T Kingfisher
They are romantasy in a really interesting world. Lots of stuff happens, including the occasional severed head.
Crosstalk by Connie Willis
It’s a funny romance about communication and confusion.
