I've been wanting to pick up reading actual books instead of only fanfiction. I don't really know where to start, other than I know I loved Blue Eye Samurai. I loved the the symbolism, hidden parallels and morally ambiguous characters and it left me craving more. If it helps, I really enjoyed that it showed the cruel reality of the past and how the characters learned to live around it or take advantage of it, and that the main character is shown to not be a good person, but learns how to be one.
I'd prefer books that are popular as it means it'll most likely be available in Latvian, though I would also love to get some lesser known but beloved books.
