Hello! My wife got me back into reading last year and I’ve loved it. I started off reading a good amount of Cormac McCarthy as The Road was the first book I read when I began reading again and I absolutely loved it. I’ll list several others I’ve read and a brief note about what I thought and hopefully you all can suggest me a few new reads I may enjoy. Thanks!
Books I’ve read thus far:
The Road- McCarthy: Loved it. Got emotional at the end. (Which I want! lol)
No country for old men- McCarthy: Loved it even though I’d seen the movie.
All the pretty horses- McCarthy: Liked it.
Blood Meridian- McCarthy: Liked it but will need to read again as it was more difficult than his others.
The Passenger- McCarthy: Wasn’t a huge fan but will need to revisit. Just felt a bit slow at some points and some parts were a bit difficult to understand IMO.
Where all light tends to go- David Joy: Liked it. Good story and an easier read for me.
All the light we cannot see- Anthony Doerr: Liked it but I got a bit bored at times.
The Black Snow- Paul Lynch: Liked a lot. Bleak but very good story IMO.
Where the crawdads sing- Delia Owens: Read it simultaneously with my wife and we enjoyed it. Nothing really pulled me in but it was a good story overall.
Tender is the flesh- Agustina Bazterrica: Liked it. Maybe I’m weird but I didn’t find it as insanely shocking as others seem to lol
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
