Going through a tough time right now and need to read something I can relate to. Mainly looking for protagonists going through serious depression and/or anxiety and/or Agoraphobia.
In terms of drug addiction it has to be specifically Heroin (I've read Trainspotting).

*Junkie*, Willam Burroughs.
Have just read a book narrated by someone subject to incidental but very well-described anxiety attacks; it’s excellent but isn’t as easily read as Burroughs’: *The Wastes* by Roy Claire Potter
“we have Always lived in the castle” by Shirley Jackson has a character with severe agoraphobia. “Multiple Choice” by Janet Tashjian has a protagonist with OCD and anxiety.
Requiem for a Dream, by Hubert Selby Jr.
