I will be making two 12 hour road trips soon with my boomer parents. I am in desperate need of truly gripping audiobooks we might all enjoy, given the following criteria:
My mom reads exclusively murder mysteries and Harry Potter. My father does not read at all, ever. He is interested in horror movies, sports, and mid-20th century nostalgia type stuff. They like the Beatles. They are left-leaning in their politics, but probably not interested in any heavy political commentary type stuff. They hate whimsy. They are both VERY picky in terms of the type of content they consume.
While not a book, I know that they both loved the movie "Zodiac," directed by David Fincher. Are there any books out there with a similar vibe? Or any others that might randomly fall within this narrow band of reading material?
