I'm a big fan of Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six. I want to read a thriller book that goes into precise technical details about the tactics that are used within combat. And I want them to be described in a non-condescending way.
Eg: " I duck and move swiftly while hugging the hills "
The conscending version of that would be " I move swiftly while hugging the hills to avoid being seen ".
See what I mean? To a newbie, it needs to be explained why the character is hugging the hills. Whereas to a pro, it would be obvious so it doesn't need to be explained.
So a book that is not beginner friendly. Like a book that describes advanced chess tactics instead of reading like a manual written for someone who is playing chess for the first time.
Something that requires a lot of focus too.
