My son (7) is currently interested in modern world history, the two world wars, and empires of every era. I’m looking maintly for audiobooks on the topic for him to listen to at bedtime, but also picture books on history.
He doesn’t really like reading books with no pictures, but his comprehension is quite advanced for his age so adult audiobooks might be appropriate. He happily listened to a couple of (carefully curated) chapters of Shirer’s Rise and Fall of the Third Reich – although I’m sure he won’t actually have understood all of what he heard. However, as I’m sure fellow parents can appreciate, I don’t want him listening to graphic discriptions of battles, injuries or other inhumane atrocities.
So, if anyone can please recommend some military history audiobooks he can listen to, or any picture books that might draw his eye (Horrible Histories is the only series I’ve thought of so far, so I am already planning to choose those with him). TYIA.
