There are books that reach a deeper part of your soul since becoming a parent, and maybe only because of particular scenes.
I’m most of the way through Pet Sematary. Before becoming a dad, I would have processed this differently.
I read Hamnet and was beyond inconsolable for an unexpectedly long time, at one point in particular. Had I read this before children, I know I would have found it very moving, but the direct experience of loving my children has transformed these things for me.
What have you read that resonates with you differently? Doesn’t have to be traumatic, of course!
