This is a big slightly vague ask but 2024 is a dumpster fire ( TLDR I lost my job, my house was flooded, and my mom passed all in a span of 6 months.) I’m looking for a book about a protagonist overcoming odds or just enduring them to a satisfying ending. Not too bleak or at least strung through with silver linings and eventual triumph. Female protagonist slightly preferred but not required. Please no shocking animal deaths 😭 I’m a squishy hearted dog mom.
I’ll also take any books recs that feel like a cool hand on your forehead, a balm. Peaceful.
Genres I love are epic fantasy, sci fi, also hard scrabble pioneer or road trip vibe.
I just finished Circe by Madeline Miller and loved it. Also a huge Ursula K Leguin fan. Enjoyed Educated by Tara Westover, and Maid was decent too.
