So often you see the trope of then mentally ill person who is "crazy", a conspiracy theorist or paranoid in media. But I'm looking for something where a main character had some sort of mental illness, but their also correct in their beliefs or response.
And not just unreliable narrator where it's a "are they crazy, or is it real?".
I'm looking for something along the lines of – A slasher thriller where the character is a paranoid schizophrenic, but there 100% correct that there's a Killer in the camp, and their paranoia pays off In their favor.
But at the same time, I don't want it to downplay how difficult mental illness is, or portray it like its always some superpower.
On the same lines in the paranormal theory world, there is this concept of the tricksters phenomenon – where the phenomenon itself tends to show itself to those who are already predisposed to not being taken seriously.
I'm thinking something along the lines of mystery, thriller, horror?
