I used to love SFF genre, mainly when I was reading Harry Potter over a decade ago. I picked up Sanderson, Schwab, Brown, etc. But recently I feel like they're so hard to get into. The worldbuilding takes forever, the story takes forever to set up, the books are long, and I have a hard time getting into the worlds. It feels like a chore. Although I seem to get into SFF books more as audiobooks, not sure why.
Do you have any suggestions for fast-paced fantasy books? Have you been through such feelings?
Part of it is a change in taste. I like historical fiction a lot more now, but there must be something out there, no?
