i want to get into reading, but i have such specific interests that it’s to hard to stay engaged with most things. i like fantasy, lore, magic, witches, animals, teen stuff, lgbtq rep, racial diversity, those sorts of things. what are some good books to read with any of those topics in mind?

Well I don’t often say this, you’re probably looking specifically for Young Adult fiction. They tend to be tuned to younger readers, and thus also bigger on presenting diversity and LGBT matters casually, and having teenage issues at the forefront. You are most certainly not looking for Wheel of Time or The Magicians even if you might enjoy them (but probably wouldn’t, honestly).

You might look into A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab, at least as a jumping off point.

Edit: I’d also add that they tend to have an emphasis on being easy to read and fast paced; as opposed to like The Magicians which while great is very challenging.

    2. Vampire diaries has most of what you asked for thought the tv show was more multicultural and lgbtq+ so i like to just visualize the characters as their tv show actors. its not like the tv show its much better. the author of those also had a witch series and the originals and journals of characters so there were lots of different styles of books for her universe. It was first written in the 90s so its a bit dated but it’s later books were written more recently.
