    Hey all,

I recently finished the show The Fall, and Paul Spector… wow. He got me thinking about the darkness that can lurk within brilliant minds. But what if we could explore that darkness not just as a villain, but as a struggle for control?

I'm on the hunt for a book that delves into the mind of someone battling a complex obsession, fueled by a fractured psyche. Here's the breakdown:

    • Maybe the character has a split personality, or grapples with a Jungian shadow – a repressed part of themselves that embodies their darker desires. This internal struggle adds a layer of complexity to their obsession.
    • The obsession stems from the loss of their mother, a trauma that shattered their sense of self. They might see women who resemble their mother, or project their grief onto these women in a twisted way. Is it a desperate attempt to connect, or something more sinister?
    • Witness the internal war as their grief morphs into a consuming obsession. Does it manifest in sexual deviations? Is there a constant battle between the "normal" part of them and the dark shadow that threatens to take over?
    • I'm looking for psychological exploration, not a typical crime thriller. The focus is on the character's internal struggles, the battle for control within their own mind.
    • A diary format would be incredible, offering a raw and unfiltered view of the character's fracturing psyche.
    • What if the protagonist is a psychologist, philosopher, or someone who studies the human mind? This adds a layer of tragic irony as they try to understand their own demons.

I want to be unsettled, to see how a seemingly normal person can be consumed by an unhealthy fixation. But most importantly, I want to understand how the loss of a mother can fracture the psyche, creating a battle between a desperate need for connection and a potentially destructive shadow.
