Might be a bit weird but I volunteer at a summer camp every year, and the vibe is so energetic and optimistic that I like to read Horror while I'm there to kind of being me back down to baseline at night.
Looking for something on the shorter side, atmospheric prose, a supernatutal themes, maybe with a little bit of lore and mystery to it.
My favorite horror:
Salem's Lot
We don't Swim Here
Benny Rose, The Cannibal King
Saturday Night Ghost Club
I'm really looking to just be swallowed by the story
Thanks!

Please read Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak! I should get paid for how much i’ve been recommending this book
Not very short, but amazing: House of Leaves by Mark. Z. Danielewski. Unconventional storytelling and really compelling (imo at least).
The Six Stories series has good creepy vibes and all of them are pretty short!
Not very short but has a subplot about a summer camp: My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones
You might like the Sworn Soldier duology by T. Kingfisher, What Moves the Dead & What Feasts at Night. They’re both novellas so on the shorter side. The first is an excellent retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher by Poe and is so very creepy and atmospheric. The second one is more thrilling because the MC is in more danger. Personally I go for atmosphere vs thrills, but they’re both really good.
Not a horror book (I know) but in the adjacent thriller/mystery genre is The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager. It centers around a summer camp ani thought it was pretty good.
The Troop by Nick Cutter
