I found this book not just beautiful in the message but the writing felt like every word was perfectly placed. It’s poetically unfair but exactly right from beginning to end. I feel different knowing this book. His perspective on life and death was something I hope to hold with me.
I have a habit of borrowing books from the library but buying the powerful ones so I can re-read them and write in them to make them mine: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
This is one I will buy.

I loved this book as well, not just for what you mentioned but also for the medical anecdotes. The incident where he successfully removes a tumor in a child only for the same child to turn into an unmanageable rage monster when he hit puberty, possibly from the scar tissue of the operation as I recall, was horrifying and fascinating.
Ugly cried through much of this book. Paul was a terrific writer, on top of everything else.
