The two recent books I’ve read that did this for me are “Untamed State” and “American Dirt”. I loved the anxiety these books brought me. I want to be angry with the antagonist and also be scared of the outside world when I put the book down and come back to reality. I need a story where the worst of people is seen. No sci-fi please.
