The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is an awesome read

Nancy Drew and Mrs. Marple are classics.
For more modern stuff, try Rizzoli and Isles, or The October Daye books.

When death comes stealing by Valerie Wilson Wesley.
This is the first book of the series. each book is a standalone mystery.

There is a cozy mystery series by Abby Collette that starts with A Deadly Inside Scoop which centers around a twenty something black woman who runs her family’s small town ice cream shop and finds herself wrapped up in a murder investigation.
If you are good with precocious kids, the Falvia de Luce series is fun. I recommend the audiobooks.

Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire although it does have a supernatural element

Tana French’s books normally have at least one female cop in the mix. She’s also a woman herself so writes those characters well I think!

I like the Violet Darger ones by LT Vargus pretty well!
