I'm trying to get into classic noir as someone who has never read a noir book before (I've only seen some movies). I heard that The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler can be quite convoluted & hard to follow in terms of plot, but I also hear that it's the quintessential example of the genre with excellent writing. Is this a good book to start with if I want to get into hard-boiled noirs, or do you guys have any suggestions for famous noir books that are more accessible/serve as a better introduction instead? Thanks!
