A close friend (27F) of mine always wanted to have kids and a big happy family. About a year ago, she gave birth to her first child and has been struggling with her mental health ever since.
It turns out motherhood is not what she expected. She is a very loving and caring mother, but she has unrealistically high standards and is blaming herself for "not feeling the fulfillment a mother should feel."
I don't have children, nor am I surrounded by children. That's why I can't fully comprehend what it means to struggle as a mother and what kind of advice would be helpful.
Has anyone read books that changed their perception of how to act, think, or be as a mother?
Any recommendations are helpful! Thanks!
