I read The old man and the sea by Hemingway a couple of months ago and i found the fishing-part very enjoyable, so i’m looking for similar books (fishing and some sort of loneliness and/or thoughts about life).

I am no fisherman myself, so i would like to steer away from books that goes very in depth about gear/fish etc.

I’m also a fan of horror and the game «Dredge» (fishing game with some lovecraftian elements and vague lore) if there’s any books that’s similar to the game.

    Thanks!!

Moby Dick by Herman Melville is a doorstop of a book but easy and enjoyable to read. It was written to be funny and still holds up that way. There’s lots of musing on life and humanity.

In The Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick is a true story of the whaler ship the Essex and its loss, with some sailors trying to reach home. It’s very readable and gripping.
