I have a 10 year old sister who reads at a very high level, and she LOVES horror. Specifically serial killer horror and books that give off 80’s slasher vibes. However, a lot of horror books include explicit sexual themes/scenes, and I’m trying to avoid those. She really enjoys manga and graphic novels too, so bonus points if it’s one of those. So far she’s read “Slash Them All” and “Everything is Fine”.

      – The Troop by Nick Cutter
      – Rot and Ruin series
      – For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing
      – Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka (kinda)
      – Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaefer

I’ve read Amy Cross 1689 series… unhinged witch/ghost with some slashing. Would she be interested in that maybe? I’m not big into smut, I believe there was some kissing scenes but nothing to crazy.

This may be an odd choice, but I grew up reading the Cirque du Freak series starting when I was in 5th grade. It scared me at the time and had some moments of slasher vibes, and there’s no real explicit sexual themes, it’s a different take on vampires and I love it. It’s dark and creepy. I believe there are twelve books plus a four book prequel series and I still read them today (I’m 31F now!) The movie is absolute garbage so under no circumstances watch it.

I read a lot of manga but trying to find a horror/slasher type without sexual themes/scenes will be very difficult. They love their fan service.
