Just finished setting up a bookshelf. What books should I get? Not a super big reader but I got back into it after reading a book called “Rise of the Exile” by JD Matter.

    Any suggests? Thanks in advance.

    1. What sorts of hobbies and interests do you have? Favourite movies, TV shows, video games, stuff like that? This will help us think of what books you may like. I have not read Rise of the Exile, but if you can describe what it is you like about it, I may have some ideas.

That said, I mainly read sci fi so what I have to recommend are books that tend to be loved by people who don’t generally read a lot:

      * Sarah Pinsker, this author has a fun action-y writing style. She has a novella available free here, [And Then There Were N-1](https://escapepod.org/2018/11/01/escape-pod-652-and-then-there-were-n-one-part-1/)

      * Red Rising by Pierce Brown. This is first in a series.

As for building a collection of books, you can find used books for absolute dirt cheap from brick and mortar secondhand stores if you have any in your area, or from sites like Better World Books or Thriftbooks. There’s tons of other online used book retailers, those are just the two I tend to use. I feel that old books have character that new copies don’t really have, in terms of their value for decorating your space.
