Hi there! Big historical fiction reader, and in particular I love books that are set anytime in Asia – some of my major favorite's include Min Jin Lee's Pachinko, all of Amitov Ghosh's Ibis trilogy, and Tan Twan Eng's The Gift of Rain.
Also, I'm specifically looking for books that aren't written by either James Clavell or Lisa See. Nothing personal against those authors, I just feel like Shogun / Tai-Pai / The Island of Sea Women / Snow Flower and the Secret Fan / etc. are always some of the very first books recommended every time I look into this subgenre, and I would love to learn about other titles that are out there.
