My partner (34m) has not been much of a book guy. He grew up in a rural community where it doesn’t seem common to do a lot of reading for pleasure. I think he was always just forced read books that didn’t interest him growing up in school and doesn’t realize all the fun stories that are out there!
He enjoyed reading Greenlights, the Matthew McConaughey memoir a few years ago. We recently listened to Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir on a roadtrip and he was HOOKED!! We even spent all of dinner last dinner discussing a list of book club questions I found.
I am hoping to get some recommendations that might excite him in the same way Project Hail Mary did. I get the sense he enjoys stories that would be considered adventurous with a touch of humor. I don’t think he would enjoy books that are super long fantasy series.

Anything by de Sade, Nabakov, Nietzsche, Goethe, Hegel, Camus, Lovecraft, or de Balzac
The River by Peter Heller would be perfect for this
Dark Matter or Recursion by Blake Crouch
If he’s interested in humor, maybe Starter Villain by John Scalzi?
