Just finished re-reading Agatha Christie's A Murder is Announced. Fantastic book, as are all of the Miss Marple mysteries. I particularly liked the scene where a criminal faked an assassination attempt on themselves by having someone shoot at them and made it look real by making a self-inflicted cut on the ear that bleeds out copiously. All in an effort to both garner sympathy and distract away from their crimes.
So deliciously intricate it fooled almost everyone, yet so simple when Miss Marple pointed out how the criminal gained from it!
