Many people know this author, even if not the name, then you have obviously heard about his story "I Have no Mouth but I Must Scream" and about the villain from there.
In short, in 1996, the Azbuka publishing house released a collection of short stories by Harlan Ellison, "All the Sounds of Fear." The problem was that the author did not know about it, because the book was created unofficially, without his permission.
And when Ellison found out about it, it made him angry. If you are familiar with his biography, you know that he hated such treatment of his work. And in 1997, Polaris Publishing House officially released three volumes of The Worlds of Harlan Ellison. In the first volume, he wrote a preface, where he angrily wrote about the Azbuka and how bad their translation was, as well as that he wanted Russian readers to like him and make an addition to his stories. It consisted in the fact that before the story itself, he wrote the story of their creation and interesting situations related to them, as well as explained some details (he even wrote about the fact that he was depressed that no one noticed the positive message in "I Have no Mouth but I Must Scream").
In general, such a funny story. It is a pity that these books are no longer published in Russia.
