Hi all, I'm not sure if others are interested in reading books that were originally released serially, with chapters on a weekly or monthly basis (most all of Dickens, books like The Three Musketeers, or the Brothers Karamazov to name a few)…but I'm thinking of setting up a book club to send participants the installments at their intended pace. Probably starting with Great Expectations, but I'm not sure and am open to ideas.
If you've never read books that were intended as serials in that way, it's a totally different and wonderful experience. It's the difference between, say, watching the Sopranos every Sunday night on HBO for 7 years…and binging it over a weekend. It just totally changes one's relationship to the writing and also reveals all sorts of interesting patterns in the stories that I would never otherwise notice.
Anyway, would people be interested in this?
