I’m looking for books that are thrillers or mystery that has cryptids in them. Think Wendigo, Bigfoot, skin walker etc. the only one I know about is Pet Semetary. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!
The Old Soldier and the Monsters of Mount Snyder by Rick Askew.

Rick Yancey’s Monstrumologist series may be just what you want! Ignore the fact it is called YA, it works just fine for adults, it’s just that the main character is 10 in the first book (and 24 the last one!) so I think that’s how they originally categorized it. (Sometimes I picture the YA readers this series probably traumatized…)
It’s got some of the most frightening horror sequences I’ve ever read. Great characterization as well, and incredible writing. It opens in the late 19th century where the main character is taken in to work as an apprentice to a Monstrumologist— a scientist who specializes in cryptids. The first book has anthropophagi, the second is called Curse of the Wendigo. There are four altogether.
Seriously, stomach-turning tension, and a deeper story about human monsters and what turns them away from humanity.
It ended up being quite a cult hit when it was published. After the third book, Isle of Blood, the publisher was going to stop, and ended up giving in to reader demand to publish the last book in the series, The Final Descent. What an ending! Absolute gutpunch (happily none of the books ends on a cliffhanger, but it’s best to read them in order).

Something of a Tall Tale by Christopher C Tyler has an overarching mystery that the MC is trying to solve over the course of the book as he road trips across the country with a small group of cryptids. There were so many interesting cryptids in the book!
