Essentially looking for murder mystery books that anybody can realistically solve. I’m super into Japanese visual novels that revolve around horror/mystery (such as Umineko, Zero Escape, and Danganronpa, for those familiar with the genre), but I find myself frustrated by the amount of times the reveals presented by those narratives break the traditional rules of murder mysteries (such as Knox’s Commandments). I’m okay with a bit of rule breaking, but I like to theorize as I read, so I’d love something that I can actually solve if given some time and fair clues.
I would prefer one-off book recommendations rather than any series, and would love if they leaned into a horror/thriller narrative. I’d also like to avoid SA in the stories if possible. Thanks!
