So, I’ve always thought of autobiographies as exceedingly boring. I’m a reader who reads for story (I love fantasy, sci-fi, etc.), and unless there’s an actual story, I don’t consider a book worth reading. I’ve never been interested in reading someone’s account of their own life unless they’re telling a story about something I’m interested in.
However, I’ve recently started thinking about empathy as a skill that’s able to be practiced. I think reading autobiographies could be a great way to do that, especially since I have such a strange aversion to them.
I don’t care who wrote it – I’m looking for a range of answers. Whether I relate to the person or not does not matter – in fact, it’s better if I don’t.
So – what are some of your favourites? 🙂

Reality Check by Mike Sorrentino
I’m a jersey shore fan but was never a fan of Mike “the situation”. I read this book and came out of it with a new respect for him.
years ago I enjoyed Bossypants by Tina Fey
