Hi all! Looking for novels about modern military service told from a Japanese point of view or voice. I'm trying to get a feel for Japanese attitudes toward their own military service and JSDF culture. Novels specifically about the Japanese Self Defense Forces would be perfect (Japanese Air Self Defense Forces would be even more perfect, especially if the characters are pilots), but I'm open to any sort of fiction or science fiction that may have been informed by JSDF points of view, even if it's about fictional forces or settings and not specifically about the JSDF (Yukikaze is already on my list!). Doesn't have to be a techno thriller or military science fiction, either. Action is great but it's not what I'm after, I want to learn more about modern Japanese military culture and attitudes. Thank you!
