I love reading to my boys at bed time. They are currently 9 and 12. The 12 year old is kinda checking out but i go ahead anyway. About to finish Call of the Wild and dont want to start another long book as they’ll be going to Summer camp for a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on a collection of short stories where the stories can be completed in 1-3 nights reading?

How about The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling?
If your boys like a little bit of spooky/silly/weird, at that age I enjoyed David Lubar’s “The Curse of the Campfire Weenies” and the other books in his “Weenies” collection. They’re anthologies of middle grade short stories that are quirky and a little dark but definitely age appropriate. The stories are very short, so multiple can be read in a night with easy start and stop.
